We celebrated Landon's birthday this past weekend. He is turning 6 on Thursday. I know it is said all the time, but time flies!!!! Landon also had his first sleepover and had a friend spend the night. It was so neat to hear them talking in the next room. :) It gives me a glimpse into his "world".

First Campout!

This past weekend we had our first campout and the kids did great! Blake and I-not so much! Did not bring an air mattress or pillows and suffered the consequences of sleeping on the ground ;)

So much for roughing it!!!

We camped by the Mississippi River and the kids enjoyed the "beach".

Wisconsin 2011

Last week we enjoyed going to Wisconsin with my sisters and our families. Landon and Delaney loved fishing and both caught fish. Landon had a hard time letting his go after keeping it in this compartment for a little while on the boat.

"Dirks" the fish had an injury and after much consoling and explanation of fish heaven we thought we were good to go. However, "Dirks" was still floating in the water the next day and Landon saw him. He said, "Uncle Jarreeedd, Dirks isn't in heaven!" Next came more explaining. :) Amazingly, Landon still wanted to keep fishing.

Blake wanted proof that he will actually brave the elements, aka grass, for a cool picture.

(I won't tell you that the bottom of the lake is sand and it wasn't any big deal to be standing in middle of grass that didn't touch him. :)

Vacation is just a lot of hard work for some of us!

I am sad that the concert is over, but it was the BEST ever!!!! I could see Keith Urban 20 more times and it still wouldn't be enough, I think. :) Anyone thinking obsession??

Usually Delaney' s hair is crazy and who knows what outfit she has on at any given time or if any clothes at all, but for about 5 minutes before her birthday party she had this outfit on. My sister made the skirt as well as her daughter's, Ada, dress. Both are adorable! She opened a booth at the Hawthorne Center Craft Mall so everyone go check it out!!!!!

Delaney turned 3 this past Saturday! I realized why I do not make birthday cakes because I can't even frost them without destroying them. Thankfully, we also had cupcakes to fall back on! :)

Warm weather is finally here and I honestly don't know where time goes! I completely forgot to take Easter pictures, which I regret. We have been going to some softball games where one game I went to the concession stand to get Landon and Delaney some food. I left them in the vehicle and took the keys with me thinking there shouldn't be any problems. Why in the world do I EVER think that???? While at the concession stand the car alarm goes off with honking and lights flashing. I somehow manage to turn it off from a distance and hopefully didn't distract the softball players too much. Yeah, right?!?

Delaney loves Play-Doh and could play forever with it. This past week after fighting a fever for a couple of days her mother finally took her to the doctor and learned she had strep throat! Why is it that I am always baffled at this child's symptoms or illnesses?? I am usually in shock leaving the doctor's office with what my child either has or doesn't have. Oh well, keeps me on my toes and guessing all the time. Hopefully, this week there will be more sleeping and not sharing beds or sickness! :)

A few weekends ago Blake and I took the kids tubing at Snowstar and had a LOT of fun

(the kids did too, i think :)

They both weren't so sure at first especially with all the "stuff" they had to wear.

But they forgot about that when riding down the hill! This is how Delaney spent the entire time. Riding up and down the hill in her tube, not surprisingly she lasted longer than anyone else!

Can't wait to go again :)

Landon decided to dress up in preparation for the cold weather, but doesn't seem too happy about it! (He stole my scarf :)

Rumbletum has had an exciting past week-he was declawed and neutered. Poor cat, but he might have enjoyed his time away as you can see: He was not hurt during the taking of this picture, but Delaney is sitting in a toy stroller that is now broken!

The past couple of weekends the kids have had fun first-time experiences.

We went to Disney on Ice with friends and the kids loved it.

It was a fun show and I don't think either of them moved the entire time!
Last weekend we saw the Polar Express at an IMAX theatre in 3D. We went with Grandpa Herb, Grandma Jennifer, Uncle Josh, Aunt Carrie, and Alexis. Landon loves this movie because of the train and both of them did pretty well with keeping the glasses on. I'm not so sure I am a huge fan of 3D, but we all had a great time!

(Don't you love the glasses?? I think we should have had a family picture taken in them!)

Long Day

I never know what to expect when taking my children to the doctor and I'm a nurse!

(Probably shouldn't have admitted that fact)

Delaney has had a cough occasionally for a few weeks now. She may only cough one or two times a day so I thought I would wait it out. Well, a couple days ago she started in with a runny nose. Needless to say she has never acted any differently or complained of anything. I decided to take her to the doctor today because I was tired of the cough and the runny nose seemed to be getting worse. After receiving my mother of the year award, the doctor told me she has double ear infections. :)

We've had too long of a day so it is movie time!

Let me also mention that I am not a fan of the pharmacist giving me the evil eye and the sarcasm while having a screaming toddler waiting on our prescription!

We bought Landon a bike for his birthday because his knees were hitting the handlebars on his tricycle. ;) He has never been too thrilled about the tricycle so I wasn't sure how the bike would go over. I was surprised when he was excited and wanted to ride it all the time! All of a sudden he looks so old riding a bike instead of the tricycle!

He loves trains, planes, monster trucks, and racecars. He couldn't get enough of his scooter and I was shocked he actually liked his helmet!

Hot Air Balloons

A couple of weekends ago we went to see Aunt Carrie, Uncle Josh, and Alexis. There was a hot air balloon festival and there were a lot of balloons!

It was a lot of fun and the kids had fun. The adults got to eat at our favorite pizza place so everyone was happy!

The balloon "glow" at dusk is neat to see if you ever get a chance!

Chicken scramble!

After coming home from vacation we have been battling being sick. Delaney had double ear infections while Landon fought a fever for 5 days. All of that was last week! This week has started off with me being sick and having to come home from work, which is embarassing. I have puked more this year than in my entire life I think. I am sure you all wanted to know that! :) Delaney also started in today and initiated the car for the first time with being sick. I must say I am not looking forward to another week of sickness! Thankfully, Landon didn't start kindergarten this year or he would have missed the entire first week! Preschool starts Wednesday so I hope we are all well by then~

Ozarks!

We spent a week in the Ozarks with Blake's family and had a blast!

There was sun, water, boats, a jet ski, and fun. :)

Don't be alarmed-the jet ski is not moving. The kids were just preparing in Wendy's parking lot.

Riding in a boat is exhausting!

Landon was swimming like a fish whether it was in the lake or pool. Fortunately, a late night phone call to the doctor and a prescription called to Walgreens for swimmer's ear saved us!

Delaney really wasn't so sure about the whole tube ride thing, but she and Daddy survived.

The week went by entirely too fast and now we're trying to adjust back to reality. ;)

Exploring....

Last weekend we went exploring in Blake's grandparents' timber. Landon loved wading in the creek and looking for rocks. Delaney, however, did not like getting wet or dirty. She decided she would rather wait in the truck until we were finished! :)

As long as someone was holding her, Delaney was okay with "exploring".

Summer and Tball

We had family from out of town back around the 4th of July so we went to Fun City! Landon was able to bowl for the first time and really liked it. :) Although I think he still prefers to drive/ride in the go-carts, especially with Papa. Delaney even got to ride with me in the go-cart, but wasn't up for a second round so I don't know if that says something.........

I needed this to help my bowling game!

Recuperating

Last weekend was extremely busy! We had our annual church camp out on Friday which was fun until Delaney decided she doesn't like to sleep on an air mattress and the storm came at 3am. :) Saturday we went to a wedding out of town and stayed in a hotel. The wedding was beautiful and the kids loved dancing at the reception. Needless to say we are all still recovering!

The month of May is flying by and Delaney will soon be two!!!! I don't really know where the time goes sometimes. Right now I can't find my camera so sorry for no pictures again. :) We've had a fun time visiting with cousins. Blake and I have been able to go to a couple of concerts and we're trying to get ready for Delaney's birthday!

Here are a few random thoughts:

Landon told me the other day that he threw up in his underwear. Needless to say he just had a little accident, but it was hilarious to me anyway (not the clean-up). Actually, it was good he was wearing underwear because he doesn't like to wear them and you can find him randomly putting on pajamas anytime of day.

Delaney will be two and right now she loves babies, purses, jewelry, and make-up. She asks for bows in her hair and loves to do anything Landon is doing. She definitely has a temper and will let her needs be known whether anyone likes it or not!

Landon will soon finish his first year of preschool and we're all looking forward to the summer. :)

First Lost Tooth

I was not expecting the first lost tooth in our family would be from Delaney, but today it happened! Delaney had chipped a bottom front tooth awhile ago and after a dentist and oral surgeon visit we were just watching it to make sure it was okay. Saturday late afternoon her bottom gum suddenly swelled and I will spare you the gory details. Blake and I took her to the ER where the doctor "popped" her abscessed gum and this morning we went to a new oral surgeon's office where they pulled her tooth. Delaney was less than thrilled with all of this as you can imagine! Here she is in better spirits and it hasn't slowed her down today at all, even her eating! Please forgive me for the messy hair, shirt, etc. We've had a long day :)

Future dentist Landon is inspecting his sister's tooth and is quite thrilled with her tooth! She will be on an antibiotic to heal where the abscess was, but hopefully everything is good to go now. I am having a hard time getting used to seeing a gap in her smile!

Backhoe Work

A few weeks ago Landon and Delaney were able to go with Uncle Jared while he worked in his backhoe. They both were thrilled, but Landon especially loved it. :) Here he is actually digging a hole with the backhoe (Uncle Jared was VERY trusting and careful).

Butterfly Pavillion

While in Colorado, Aunt Carol, Delaney and I went to the Butterfly Pavillion. Delaney loved looking at all of the butterflies and here one even landed on her shirt! (not sure if she realized this or not :)

Colorado or Bust!

Last week we went to Colorado to visit my side of the family with my sister and brother in-law. We had a lot of fun after the 13 hour car trip through the night. :) Thanks, Blake and Jared! Colorado weather is just as crazy as ours because one day it was 70 degrees and 2 days later we had a snow storm. :)

We went to the mountains one day and the kids got to go sledding while the boys went skiing with my uncle and cousins. Landon and Delaney loved to go sledding. I guess it takes going to Colorado to like being out in the snow! Landon did have an incident with the snow fence, but he was a trooper and didn't quit sledding. He was even going sledding all by himself!

Spring!

The nice weather lately has been wonderful; these pictures are when the snow was just beginning to melt. Landon and Delaney were excited to get out their umbrellas and rainboots. (Don't mind the white mustaches, doughnuts were for breakfast!)

Delaney chipped a tooth back in January pretty badly and the dentist recommended pulling the tooth. However, the oral surgeon disagreed and she didn't have to go through all of that! She's a tough girl, but she wanted to eat and drink that morning last week pretty badly before the appointment. She couldn't because the plan was to pull it. She was one happy girl when she drank out of her sippy cup!

Fun City

A couple of weekends ago we took the kids to Fun City with some good friends of ours and had a blast! :) Delaney loved the water and wanted to go on all of the slides by herself. She didn't even care if her head went under water.

Landon rode the go-carts and loved driving a race car. :) He was the slowest driver out there, but I was so proud of him for even trying it! Delaney, of course, threw the biggest fit because she couldn't do it.It was a great time and Landon is already asking to go back!

Who knew running around could be so fun?

Gina is the one we come to watch at all of the games. I used to babysit her, her sister, and brother. I know they could tell some good stories! Now she babysits for us and it's wonderful knowing your kids are in such good hands. However, my children do not make it easy on her. You might ask her the multiple times she has had to watch a certain movie or the hard times Delaney has put her through. Thankfully, she always comes back and we really appreciate her! We love you, Gina!

We have officially deprived our children because this weekend was the first time Landon and Delaney have been to Happy Joe's. Needless to say, Landon was excited and LOVED the games that cost a small fortune to keep playing. :) It wasn't all for the kids because I forgot how much I love their pizza and it was buffet.....double whammy!

Landon hated his snow pants and refused to leave the porch until we went back inside.

It is absolutely freezing outside and we are inside! I love it when we are able to stay at home and not be out in the cold. However, Landon is sick again and Delaney still has a runny nose and cough. I am not complaining though because I feel for the past couple of months life has been too hectic around here. I have started a new job which required working more days and may still occassionally until I get the hang of it. :) Working more during the month of December was hard! Health insurance issues arose and was not fun at all (still trying to work on this). The wonderful idea of making our scary basement not scary anymore during this time seemed logical, but again will not attempt to do a project during the month of December! Today actually feels "normal" before all of the craziness began. The basement is finished and I love it! I am using the word love a lot today, aren't I? :) The toys the kids got for Christmas have a home and they have a big space to play now. This post is a little boring and does not have pictures so I apologize, but I had to post about feeling "normal" again!!!!!

White Christmas and New Year's

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year's! I took this picture of our house one night because I love how everything looks when there is new snow on the ground.

We did survive the holidays, but Landon didn't make a few because he got sick the night of Christmas. This was our first experience with changing 2 beds in the middle of the night and having a bucket close at all times! We have been spoiled, I know. Landon himself didn't quite know what to think either. He's better, but now both of them have runny noses again. Delaney is not a fan of the bulb syringe that I use to clean out her nose. (Really I don't blame her at all!) Here they are in their Christmas cookie hayday!

Landon had his Christmas program last week for his preschool. Besides yelling, "Hi Laney!" at random times in the program while standing up and waving, he did pretty well. However, trying to get a nice picture in the beautiful sanctuary afterwards proved to be too difficult.

Here we are back at home after we celebrated in bitter cold temperatures at Dairy Queen! We were the only ones brave enough to eat ice cream that night, I think. :)

On another note, does anyone and I mean the 2 people who probably read this blog have problems with their Christmas lights??? I am now on my 3rd strand of lights that have gone out! Each one is on a different tree, of course. One year before children, each strand of lights went out one right after another one on our big Christmas tree. I was about to throw it out the window that year! Anyhow, just curious if anyone else goes into a fit of rage like myself when a strand of lights goes out. Puts a lovely picture of the beauty of the season in your mind, right? :)

I've found a new family tradition I want to start: making gingerbread houses or trains or whatever comes in a nice kit! I could be better and make it all from scratch, but I really don't know how and I love how everything comes together for you in the kits soooooooo this year we made our very first gingerbread train! Landon and Delaney loved helping and it was fun! I think I can foresee this turning into a competition in years to come, but we'll see. Here is our finished masterpiece. (We did allow some taste testing of the candy just to make sure it was all right). Now we have to keep Uncle Jared away because he loves candy!!!!

Delaney loves to dance and it is hilarious watching her! My mom has described it like the way Elaine from Seinfeld dances and it is so true. :) I tried to capture it on video, but this isn't a great example.

Changes

This fall has been a season of changes for me. I've started babysitting a fews times a week, and after a couple of interviews I will be starting a new job! This job does not include working night shift, every other weekend, or holidays! I am excited, sad about leaving co-workers, and nervous about starting something different. It was time for a change and I am thankful that I am even able to try something new. I will still be helping out over this holiday season, but next week I begin training for my new job. It's felt like everything has been up in the air for a while now, but hope we will soon be settling in for a new "normal".

Here's to new begininnings!

I can't believe Halloween is already over and November is here! I know you will hate me for this, but the topic of Christmas cards invaded our house, well, just by me. :) I couldn't pass up the opportunity when my sister offered to take Landon and Delaney's picture for the Christmas card. We even went to a park! She did a wonderful job, but I included some of the ones we will not be using to give you an idea of a photo shoot with children.

Here they both are having a screaming competition to see who can be the loudest.
I absolutely love this picture, but we didn't use it on our card. Thanks again, Rachel, for putting up with all of us and for the great pictures!!!!!!!!!!

Pumpkin Carving

The other night Blake and Landon carved a pumpkin after I scooped all of the seeds out. Delaney and I thought it was fun to get dirty, but Blake and Landon thought it was gross!

They could hardly contain their excitement!
